I believe, as children, we possess ageless spirits that remain at our core, regardless of how old our bodies become. So, even when writing for young readers, I feel adults will relate to my stories since what touched our spirits at nine will touch them at ninety, as well.
To quote the beloved author of
A Wrinkle in Time, Madeleine L’Engle,
“You have to write the book that wants to be written. And if the book will be too difficult for grown-ups, then you write it for children.”
