Be Like The Sunflower…more lessons from the garden

For the fun-in-the-sun of it, my husband planted a row of sunflower seeds along our backyard side-fence. I’ve got to tell you, there’s nothing like watching sunflowers grow for nearly instant gratification! From seeds to nine-foot-tall flowers took only a few summertime weeks. As I watched those beauties grow from seedlings to skyscraping blooms to full-faced treasures of nourishing seeds, I saw yet another garden-related analogy for life lessons.

Be like the sunflower!

~Like the sunflower—keep facing the light. Follow that ray of joy and hope, no matter how fragile, and you will be filled with the radiance of positivity. That same positivity will influence many around you to find the light in their own lives and grow to be the best they can be.

(There may be no scientific basis behind it, but my husband planted marigolds between some of the sunflowers, and they grew to heights we had never seen before!)

~Like the sunflower—as your outward beauty fades, continue to shine with your spirit-light that is a beacon of encouragement to yourself and others.

~And like the sunflower—in the latest years of your life, when your shoulders may stoop, and your head may bend down from the rigors of old age, continue to give of yourself. It is a legacy that no one else in the world has to offer.

Thanks for stopping by. Y’all come back, now!

(And always, always face the light!)

Kate
